Promise Scholar Program Mentor & Team Leader, UCSB (2024-Current)

The Promise Scholar Program provides substantive financial resources (to cover tuition and housing) for Californian students who are high-achieving but low-income. As a graduate mentor, Imeet with roughly 14-15 students for 20 minutes each per week, in person, to talk to them about study skills, academic and career goals, how to be accountable and responsible students, and to connect them to on-campus resources. As team leader, I am responsible for hiring, training, and running the mentorship team (10 graduate students) every quarter. 

Vice President of Student Advocacy, History Graduate Student Association, UCSB, 2025-2026

I oversaw the process of filing grievances and discussing graduate funding opportunities, teaching responsibilities, and department well-being with the chair of the department at monthly meetings. Along with the executive board, I planned town halls and information sessions on AI in the classroom, immigration on campus (and legal services), graduate funding, and exam preparation.

UCSB History Undergraduate Studies Committee, 2025-
Current

As the graduate representative for this committee, I and other committee members and would offer and vote on proposals for curriculum changes, scheduling changes for upcoming years, and changes to major requirements for the history undergraduate program. Another faculty member and I were also responsible for the undergraduate awards process. 

Secretary, History Graduate Student Association, UCSB, 2023-2025

My position involved setting up meetings, helping to run events, and passing along communications from committee meetings to the department.
